If you are a dedicated Windows Live Messenger user and own an iPhone, you may want to take a gander at the official, recently released (and free) iPhone app for the longstanding IM service. The new Live Messenger app is fairly slick and easy to navigate, has push notifications, displays updates from many of the services you can integrate with in your Windows Live account — including Facebook — and handles the job of basic messaging very well. That said, there are a few obvious gaps and design flaws that have made the experience a bit frustrating for some.

Behind the Curtain at 40Tech – WooThemes Review

If you’re a regular visitor to 40Tech, you’ve probably noticed the new look.  The look is largely due to a new theme by WooThemes.  A few months ago, the 40Tech team decided that a new look was needed in order to grow the site and to implement some upcoming new features that we had in mind (stay tuned for those).  After searching around for a new WordPress theme from numerous sources, all signs kept pointing back to WooThemes.  While the beauty of WooThemes’ designs was what sealed the deal, it was the support I ran into after the sale that impressed me the most. Ubuntu 10.04: New Features and a Manual But Still Linux

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, Lucid Lynx | 40Tech Credit given where credit’s due, Ubuntu, and other Linux distributions based on Ubuntu (like Linux Mint and Jolicloud which we will cover soon), have made massive strides in terms of features and usability. The features and raw speed of Ubuntu’s latest release (10.04), Lucid Lynx, are very enticing to the tech curious, especially those who like software alternatives and getting stuff for free. Be warned, however, if you are not familiar with the background workings of Linux (Ubuntu or otherwise), even a shiny new integrated help manual may not be enough to get you to jumpship.
