Windows Mobile is not known for being either pretty or exceptionally user friendly, and the apps have been repeatedly put to shame by iPhone and Android software. WinMo users were waiting with baited breath for the launch of the Windows Mobile applications store (Skymarket), but initial offerings were largely disappointing and often grossly overpriced. Hope springs eternal, however, and TouchTwit, the newest Twitter app on the block for Windows Mobile, leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Earlier, we discussed 5 compelling reasons to upgrade to Windows 7. Windows 7 is a big step up from Windows Vista, with several compelling features, but it isn’t perfect. While there are no deal breakers, there are a few spots where Windows 7 could use some improvement. Here are a few of them. I’m sure there are more, so let us know in the comments if you have any ideas for how to improve Windows 7 (and no, "get a Mac" doesn’t count).
Unlike Bobby, the other writer here at 40Tech, I wasn’t brave enough to install the Windows 7 Release Candidate or Beta. As a result, I’ve only been using Windows 7 for about 5 days now (unlike Bobby, who has been using it and loving it for quite some time). So far, I’m impressed. Many of those same people, however, are excited to try out the much vaunted Windows 7 operating system, due out tomorrow for public consumption. Windows 7 is touted to be everything that Vista was supposed to be and more, and even some die hard Windows haters have given the new OS grudgingly good reviews. However, there is one major snag in the upgrade to Windows 7 from XP: you can’t actually upgrade it. You have to do a clean install. This can cause some problems for people as they will lose all of their programs, settings, and more. To that end, here are seven quick tips to help your install be a little more smooth and butter-like.
A few weeks back, Google unveiled the long-awaited push Gmail for iPhone and Windows Mobile. Push Gmail is part of the Google Sync package, which is still in Beta and previously offered only Google Calendar sync and Google Contacts sync. The calendar and contacts features have been working fairly flawlessly for some time now, aside from the inability to support multiple calendars and a few hiccups with the sync connection on some phones. Gmail push, unfortunately, has proven to be somewhat imperfect.
