I’m probably running the risk of starting a debate about the virtues of Windows vs. Mac, or the folly of using Windows to game on a Mac, but damn the torpedoes.

Watching Television on Your Xbox

Inching slowly toward the future:

Time Warner Cable video subscribers who are Xbox Live Gold members will be able to watch up to 300 live TV channels through their Xbox 360. Customers can easily download the TWC TV app on the Xbox 360 and begin watching instantly.

This is from a press release issued by Time Warner Cable. I had to read that twice – it says Xbox 360, not the upcoming Xbox One. We’ve heard for a while now that television over the Internet is the future. Now if we can just cut out the middle men – the cable companies and networks – we’ll get the rest of the way there.


Here’s How I’m Replacing Google Reader – For Now

Google Reader alternativesAs you probably know, Google Reader says its final farewell on July 1. Earlier today, we finally received a news update from the developer of Reeder, the popular iOS app that many people used to follow their favorite RSS feeds. Reeder for iPhone already supports a few different services, but Reeder for Mac and iPad only supports Google Reader. Support for additonal services is supposedly on the way, but I decided I can’t wait any longer, and I’ve cobbled together a few apps to get RSS reader functionality on Mac, the iPad, and iPhone.

iPhone Lightning Cable Becoming Dislodged? Clean Your Phone

That’s what I was about to do, when I couldn’t get any of my Lightning Cables to connect reliabily with my iPhone. Naturally, my first reaction was to start writing a post about the worrisome number of Apple products with which I’ve had trouble over the past two years. Hide Unused App Icons on Your Apple TV

image2Where there’s a tech annoyance, there’s a clever person with a workaround to eliminate that annoyance. Tired of all the unused icons on your Apple TV? You can hide them by going into Settings > General > Parental Controls, and picking which built-in apps to hide. I’ll be trying this tonight.
