If you’re getting a tax refund this year in the U.S., and want to track the status of the refund, you can do so on your iPhone, iPad, or Android Device with an official IRS app, IRS2Go. The app is available as a free download in the iTunes App Store, and in the Android Market.
According to Mobiputing, you should be able to use the app to track your refund about three days after you get your acknowledgment email following your filing. If you file by mail, however, this will take three to four weeks. The app has some other features as well, including tax tips from the IRS.
So, if you want to track your refund, go grab the iOS app, or the Android app.

It’s probably just me, but this seems to be a bit of overkill. Seriously, you can’t just log on to the IRS site to check the status – you actually need an app?
Maybe it’s a ploy to get people excited about paying taxes …

You mean you don’t already get excited for your taxes? That’s the highlight of my year – spending hours so I can figure out how much I owe the government.

Actually, I have a degree in accounting (not a practicing accountant, though) and my wife is a CPA. So there’s not much stress at tax time.

It isn’t so much stress for me as it is a pain in the neck. Even though I have someone do my taxes, it is time consuming to get everything together.

I wonder when will they launch a ‘Tax-free year’ giveaway contest to go with their app. Errr… not too soon? :)

Ha! I think that is in next year’s app.
