Sewell HDMI Splitter Giveaway!

Sewell HDMI splitter

Do you like free stuff?  How about free tech stuff?  If so, you’ve come to the right place, for we’re having a giveaway here at 40Tech.  Following up on our earlier post on not wasting money on ordinary HDMI cables, Sewell is letting us give away 3 of their heavy-duty HDMI splitters.  These splitters normally sell for $24.95, but you can get one for free if you’re one of three lucky winners.  Read on for the details.

Information about the Sewell HDMI Splitter

We haven’t had the chance to use one of these splitters ourselves, but here is how the folks at Sewell described them to us:

HDMI Splitter Recap

If you’re a little rusty on today’s tech nomenclature, an HDMI splitter takes the high definition HDMI audio/video signal from a single source and displays the same signal simultaneously on multiple screens (also known as mirroring). This is different from the other device that splitters are often confused with: switches. Switches are the opposite of splitters, they take multiple video sources and allow you to switch between them on a single TV. HDMI splitters are often used in home theater systems, for digital signage, live HD camera shoots, and dozens of other applications.

Sewell’s HDMI Splitter

Sewell’s HDMI splitter is extra compact, perfect for traveling or hiding behind a home theater set-up, or digital signage set-up. It supports HDMI 1.3b standards, and so supports 1080p video, 10.2 Gbit bandwidth, deep color, Dolby/DTS HD Audio, auto lip-sync, and more. The unit also features a sturdy hard aluminum enclosure for maximum heat dissapation.

In the video below, Sewell’s HDMI Splitter is put to a rigorous test using a total of 100 feet of "cheap" HDMI cable. Watch it perform admirably:

How to Win

We’re going to make this easy, and give you a few possible ways to enter the contest.  There are four ways to enter, and you can enter using a maximum of two ways, which will count as two entries.  So, only one entry per method per person, up to a total of two entries.  Here are the methods:

1. Subscribe to the RSS feed of 40Tech, and comment here to let us know that you have done so. If you’re already a subscriber, that’s OK, too – just mention in the comments here that you already subscribe.

2. Follow 40Tech on Twitter: @40Tech. Then tweet something like “@40Tech I’d sure love to win one of them sweet looking HDMI splitters – http://bit.ly/c0iyHy.” Make sure to include the “@40Tech” in the tweet so that we see your tweet, make sure to mention that you want the splitter, and make sure that you link to this post (bit.ly link is http://bit.ly/c0iyHy).

3. Join the 40Tech Facebook fan page, and leave a comment on our wall, or on this article’s entry on the fan page once it propagates there (Facebook is slow, so it could take a couple of days).  As with the Twitter method, the comment should mention that you want the splitter, and link to this post (bit.ly link is http://bit.ly/c0iyHy).

4. Comment on this post, answering the question: “How would you use the splitter?”

Contest End Time

On June 15, 2010, at 6 pm U.S. Eastern time, the contest will close.  Any entries after that time won’t count.  We then will randomly pick three winners from the valid entries, and either that evening or the next day we’ll announce the winners.

The contest starts . . . now!
