Welcome to the new look for 40Tech. We’ll have a post up in the next few days with some information about the design. The logo you see up top was designed by our very own Bobby Travis, who does this sort of thing for a living. We hope that the new look feels a bit cleaner to you, and helps you navigate the site more easily. It also should help us in our plans to grow the site going forward. Bear with us as we tweak the site, as you may see some glitches here and there. Stay tuned for more news!

Yep, it is from WooThemes (the ads on this site will take you to their site). It is the Headlines theme, modified with great help from the WooThemes crew. I will be posting about my experience with them soon.

You mentioned that the ppl at WooThemes customized the theme. Does that cost money?

Regarding the customizations, it probably depends on the extent of them. I primarily changed how the featured post area of the front page worked, and also inserted the Retweet and Facebook share buttons. For those, I simply posted some questions in the forum, and they answered right away with some suggested code.
If you have something pretty substantial, they have a page where you can hire a “WooWorker” to do customization for you.

I love the new look! Clean, simple, really easy on the eyes. Nice, nice work. One super minor suggestion – change the titles of the “Find Us On” images so that when you hover over them, they say “Twitter,” “RSS,” “Google Wave,” and the like. Might help people find the one they’re looking for.
Just a small thing, though. You guys are doing great work!

Thanks David, and thanks for the tip. I’m going to have to dig into plugin code for that one, as those “Find Us On” icons are done via a plugin, and the hover text appears to be hard-coded. Shouldn’t be too hard to figure out, though.
