I increasingly find myself wishing I were at my Mac, not because of shortcomings of the iPad, but because I get more delight out of macOS. I think that makes me an animal in tech circles. Took a few years, but the “newness” of the iPad has worn off for me so it is just a tool.

@40Tech All the computers, iPads, smartphones, and so on are just tools to me now. What differs to me is how much “friction” there is to using it. I guess “friction” means, how much do I hate it for what I am trying to use it for.

@mjdescy Good point. Although I’m weird and sometimes get a perverse pleasure out of coming up with workflows around friction points

@40Tech I love or at least like all the tech products I have, but nothing excites me too much right now from a hardware standpoint. I think we are in a mature market, and it makes sense to try to extract more value out of your devices rather than keep upgrading them or chasing the new thing, because the new thing isn’t that much better. I think the older desktop paradigm has a lot more years left for it, too, even though investment in it has slowed down considerably.
