Looking for a good TV series to binge watch with my wife, like we did with 24 and Lost. House of Cards didn’t stick for us. Suggestions?

40Tech says:
Oh, and surprisingly Mr. Robot didn’t do it for us either, although we only made it through a handful of episodes

@40Tech Orphan Black. I am a big fan. Take the three-minute challenge: my theory is that it is almost impossible to watch the first 3 minutes without getting hooked.

@40Tech I’ll second the recommendation of Orphan Black

@macgenie Agreed! Love the series, and I’m loving SestraCast with you and @mrssoup Kathy.

@DebbieB Thank you for listening. If I had a clone, I would do an episode every day!

@40Tech If you haven’t watched The Wire, it’s worth every episode. Or Longmire.

@40Tech Mr. Robot and Battlestar Galactica are both amazing.

@40Tech I loved both 24 and Lost. But then I also liked/immensely enjoyed both House of Cards and Mr. Robot. Orphan Black too, but I need to catch up season 3 onwards.
I would recommend checking out Narcos, Stranger Things, Breaking Bad, Suits, Sherlock, Prison Break, Homeland, Person of Interest, The Mentalist, The Punisher, Daredevil, Black Mirror, Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, Scandal, and Dexter. And of course Game of Thrones.
I did not like House, Shameless, and The Good Wife, but my wife binged on them.
And +1 to Longmire.
Among the new ones I thoroughly enjoyed Altered Carbon.
PS: Also crossposting to my own blog (trying out the IndieWeb), hopefully it doesn’t create a parallel universe in the process.

@40Tech Very interesting, you are not doing WordPress comments, and all interaction has to be from Micro.Blog.
But it is still syndicated as comments on your blog.
Something new to learn today.

@40Tech some of the others have already given some very good recommendations, but thought I’d add a few more ?:
– Vikings
– Suits

@40Tech Patriot, on Prime Video. I won’t say anything about it.

40Tech says:
@unoabraham That’s actually not by choice. WordPress turns off comments when posts originate on micro.blog via XML-RPC. But I just saw this post by @colinwalker this morning to enable them. Looks like he’s since made a plugin, too.

@40Tech I think most of my WordPress plugins are to make it work right rather than to enhance it (go get actual emojis, enable markdown, enable comments, …).

@macgenie I don’t remember the 3-minute mark but we were 100% hooked by the end of episode 1.

@unoabraham I’m curious – where does this show up when you corssposted to your own blog?
April 16, 2018 — 10:30 am

@ronguest Pretty much the same here. My hacks do the same thing, too.

@sirshannon It’s the opening scene, at the train station, before the credits roll for the first time. 😧

@40Tech Still trying to find that. In fact, still trying to figure out how webmentions work in different scenarios.
I posted the reply on my WordPress site (as a post) with a link to this thread on microblog and also to your WordPress post at abraham.uno/1177/1177…
That’s how webmentions are supposed to work, and I’m given to understand that microblog supports it, but I am yet to see any replies/comments, and obviously I could have done things wrong too.

@unoabraham Ah, gotcha. I still have much of the indieweb stuff to figure out.

@40Tech BBC Spooks is still my favorite television show to this day. Such a well-done, tense, government intelligence series based in the UK.

@mnmltek Thanks! I’ll check it out.

@40Tech Episode 6 “Variations Under Domestication” is possibly the most entertaining of all. In successive seasons, there’s a Donnie & Alison-focused comedy/horror/romance episode to look forward to.

@macgenie Yes, that one was a doozy. BTW, I just downloaded episode 1 of your podcast and am looking forward to listening to it this week.
