Google Voice – A Primer

The Most Exciting 3 Months in Tech – Ever?

fireworks Tech geeks get overly excited by new tech releases.  I count myself in that group.  Also, it is easy for tech geeks to forget the past (or at least view that past with a fond chuckle), since technology by its very nature tends to constantly grow and evolve.  For example, now that I have an iPhone, I look back and wonder how I ever could have loved my Palm Treo as much as I did. So, am I buying into the hype if I wonder whether the next three months will be the most exciting three months ever in tech?  Is this a view that would cause chuckles of amusement (or derisive calls of "noob!") from tech veterans?  Or are the next three months shaping up to be as awesome as they seem?

3 Reasons Google Wave Won’t Flop

bellyflop Several weeks ago, I questioned whether tech geeks were out of touch with the rest of the world.  From having no "real world" friends with Twitter accounts, to having family members who could care less about the tech over which I get excited, I pondered whether we tech geeks lived in a different reality. One example of the type of tech that only tech geeks might love is Google Wave.  Wave is Google’s next generation e-mail/instant messaging/collaboration/social media tool.  As the Google Operating System blog explains, a "wave is equal parts conversation and document, where people can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more."  For a thorough explanation of Wave, check out Mashable’s Complete Guide to Google Wave. Google Chrome Operating System – Able to Promise Big Because it Delivers Small?

chrome On Tuesday night, Google announced its new Chrome operating system, with the code due for release later this year, and netbooks that run it due in the second half of 2010.  Some of the announcement is sure to be marketing speak, as Google’s announcement seems to promise the world.  Or does it?  Is Google able to promise what it does, because the OS itself is actually going to deliver very little?
