Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate Christmas! And happy holidays to those of you of other faiths! It is Christmas Eve today, and a day on which we would normally be posting a new story. We’re going to be spending time with our families, and take the day off from posting. We hope all of you have an enjoyable holiday season, and we’ll be back on Sunday with a new post.

News regarding 40Tech.com
40Tech launched on June 4, 2009. While the site is still in its infancy, its growth has been encouraging. We have you to thank for that. Thank you for visiting, and for contributing. In the first days, we were excited about getting 10 visits a day, believe it or not. Today, we’re going to take a brief look at the site’s traffic statistics over those six months, and a few of the lessons we’ve learned from those statistics. We’ll use Google Analytics to look back at our traffic.
A week and a half ago, as part of a review of the first 6 month’s of 40Tech’s life, we took a look at the technical details of starting the site, including some lessons we learned along the way. Today, in Part 2, we look at some of the other factors that went into starting this site, and in determining what direction the site has taken so far. As with the last post, we hope that this will help those of you starting your own site, and that the experienced bloggers out there will be interested in glimpsing behind the scenes of another blog.
As we approach the six month anniversary of 40Tech’s launch, we are taking a look behind the curtain here at the site. In this post and a future post, we will take a look at the basics of the site, the inspiration behind the site launch, and other questions that arise when starting a blog. If you’re considering blogging, it might give you some helpful insights into what it is like to get a blog up off the ground. If you have your own blog, and are like me, then you enjoy learning about other blogs. In future posts, we also will take a look at traffic growth and site stastics, and the motivations and non-technical decisions associated with starting the site. But first let’s look at the nuts and bolts of the site.
I’m pleased to report that Bobby Travis is joining 40Tech as a writer. I’ve known Bobby for a year and a half, and he’s been a frequent commenter here at 40Tech. I think you’ll find that Bobby has a unique and fun personality, and he’s just as interested in tech as I am.
I’ve lured Bobby here with the prestigious position of "Senior Editor." I swear that this has nothing to do with allowing me to change my title from "Only Editor" to the much more impressive sounding "Founding Editor." Maybe my wife at least will find that to be impressive.
Check out Bobby’s profile to learn a bit about him. Bobby, the co-founder of Bluetoque Marketing, is married and a proud father, and, most interestingly of all, he’s a Canadian.
I do have a confession to make – Bobby is just a few years shy of 40. But, as you’ll see from his comments and posts, he’s "one of us." In fact, he and I discovered, through my earlier posts and his comments on those posts, that we use much of the same tech and software, and share many similar views. I think, though, that there are enough differences, especially in our personalities, that he will bring a fresh voice to 40Tech.
We’re still ironing out Bobby’s writing schedule, but his first post, a comprehensive look at Evernote as a GTD tool, will be posted soon.
