Great article, Evan! I completely agree with he concept of dipping a toe into the massive internet stream and just pulling out what’s important or interesting to me. I would drown, otherwise…

I find that I manage things in a similar way, with a slight variation on the tech used. I don’t have an iPad, so I focus on iPhone and laptop for hardware, and for aggregation, consumption, and archiving, I currently use:

– Feedly to make Google Reader easier to look at and read through (covered Feedly on 40Tech here: http://bit.ly/8ojLNN)

– MobileRSS on iPhone, as it is the closest thing to Feedly for mobile at the moment. (Still waiting for my beta invite Feedly mobile!! >:| )

– Cliqset for Facebook, Twitter, and Buzz favourites (more on Cliqset here: http://bit.ly/b7HBB3)

– Producteev/email (via the Shareaholic Chrome extension) for things that I want to add into my GTD stream for later processing, such as post ideas for 40Tech. More on that here: http://bit.ly/bmwMat

– I also use Evernote for things I want to keep for reference, and I used to user Read It Later a lot, but managed it poorly. I might use it again once I clean out the massive amount of items in it…
