Wow – that sounds like a great application!
I have a lot of interesting travel stories, but I’ll go with the one that sticks out in my mind, which was due to Canada3000 going bankrupt while me and 3 friends were backpacking around Europe in 2001. Of course, the beginning of it came in November when we learned we’d have to find a new way home.
Happy to know that our money was safe (because of the credit cards we used to buy the tickets), we purchased Air Canada flights home. Instead of leaving from Paris as intended, we had to leave from Amsterdam. This was all not so bad, but the number of connections home was.
We left in the evening and stopped in London. For two hours. Then in the air again, and touchdown in Mississauga. Sleep overnight (it had become night again). Then we had to drive to Hamilton (took a cab) for our Westjet flights home the rest of the way. We departed Hamilton, landed in Winnipeg to change planes or pick up passengers or something, then flew to Calgary (this was the part that truly drove me crazy as Regina was our final destination and we were above it instead of at it because there was no direct flight between the two at that time/day), lay over for a couple hours in Calgary, then finally boarded the plane to complete the journey back home in Regina.
So what was supposed to be Paris-Toronto-Regina became Amsterdam-London-Toronto-Hamilton-Winnipeg-Calgary-Regina. It was a long trip home.
