Actually, unless they’ve changed something recently, you can cancel right on the website without calling. I do agree, though, that it is a pain whenever you have to give a credit card number for any trial service. It’s almost like they’re hoping you’ll forget to cancel. When I went from a trial account to a paid account, I decided I wanted a different fax number, so I canceled my trial account before signing up for the paid account. There was an option to cancel right in my account settings on the RingCentral site.
One word of warning, though, if you’re doing what I did (staying with RingCentral, but just switching to a new account to get a new number)- delete all email addresses from the part of your account where you input email addresses that are allowed to fax from your account. I didn’t delete them, and found that those addresses were still tied to the old number for a period of time, so I couldn’t add them to my new account. I sent a message to customer service, and they got it straightened out for me.
I’m going to go ahead and edit the article to make mention of the trial period, and the need to give a credit card number. Thanks for pointing that out.
