I know that TeamViewer has been around since 2005. I understand that various software companies use them for supporting their software. The people that I have spoken to about them say that they are a legitimate company. How would you confirm that the security features work? Is there some sort of “Rating” agency or third party company that checks out these type of programs to make sure that they do not have security holes which could possibly allow hackers to get in via the software?

Is there an industry standard by which programs and service providers are evaluated?
