Put this into the category of “interesting, although I’m not sure I’d use it.” If your whole life is in Evernote, and you also keep a journal, then you may want to check out Ever Journal Free For Evernote. The app lets you input journal entries, which are then sent into Evernote in a “My Journal” notebook.
I’ve only given the app a cursory look, since I don’t keep a journal. The interface has a basic but skeuomorphic look – the screen is filled with a piece of lined paper, 4 icons on the side, and the keyboard (well, there’s also a pretty distracting advertisement just above the keyboard. Get the paid version to get rid of the ad).
When you’re done with an entry, tap the top right icon, and your entry will be uploaded into a “My Journal’ Notebook in your Evernote account, that is subdivided by year. On the iPad, you’ll only see the notebook named by the year, so it might be easy to miss. Here’s what a couple of entries look like, once synced to the iPad (it looks like all entries for a day get sent into one note):
To get the app to work, you do have to authenticate it with your Evernote account. It doesn’t appear to have access to your credentials, though.
So why not just input entries directly into Evernote? The benefits of this app are that you don’t have to worry about tagging or categorizing, and multiple entries for a day automatically go into one note. You can also add your location to a note with one tap of an icon.
If I journaled, I might use this app, since Evernote is such an integral part of my digital life. If you put the app through the paces, let me know in the comments what you think. If you really like it, there is a paid version, too.

It’s only available through iTunes. Since I’m running Windows 7 (64) I can’t download iTunes. Too bad; I’d like to have tried the journaling app.

What on earth does having Windows 7 have to do with not being able to download iTunes? Works fine on my Windows 7 64 bit machine.

Well, just using evernote works fine for me. I use an old android phone as a dream journal. Every night before bed I make a new note, put it in the “Dream Journal” folder and type when I wake up at night.
I love evernote, especially since you can read and modify whatever you have written on any device or platform…

Thanks for the quick review. I promote journaling and memoir writing on my website, and have personally evaluated most of the journaling applications out there. Previously a MacJournal/WinJournal advocate, I now use Evernote because of its complete cross platform and cloud computing features (i.e. immediate syncing across devices).
The Ever Journal app, at first glance, seems redundant, and the interface isn’t…what I’d want to use. But some may find it useful.

Hi, Evan! I think you might say that every blogger keeps a journal. So Evernote is great when you travel and suddenly you want to write something, fast. Of course that means it’s synced to your iPad as well.

Hi, I use Evernote religiously and love it. I always kept a journal and have found a great app available for Android and IOS. It is PostEver. I can post from my android phone, ipad, Acer tablet and it all goes to one notebook, one note for each day with multiple entries. Great app with a time stamp for each entry. Makes a nice place to put all journal entries for the day in one place without having to open Evernote each time. I love it.

Thanks for the suggestion, Phillip. I hadn’t heard of that one.

I love Evernote too! And I journal! I didn’t know that there was an Android app. Once I get the Phone that will be one of the first apps I will be downloading!
Thanks!

I’ve just started using this app (now called vJournal on iOS) and it is really cool! What I like about this app is, it puts several notes that you may not on the same day into one note, rather than saving them as different notes. It is totally worth the price $0.99.
