None of my labels are populated on my mobile device (I use HTC Pure with WM 6.5). I have tried everything I could, but no respite. I use Gmail with Microsoft Exchange as it syncs my contacts, calendar and Facebook contacts and that keeps me updated. I could move to IMAP but that would mean losing these abilities. The push functionality seems to work better now, though it is still not consistent -- but, no matter what setting I use, I still can not populate other folders and I can't download attachments. Boo. When I was getting my email from my last job to my phone (job was high demand) I didn't realise how much it stressed me out until I deleted it and felt the weight lift from my shoulders. However, I do see the value in push email -- even if it is probably not the healthiest way to approach your life or overall productivity (it is better suited for short term productivity). I actually use my gmail as a "universal inbox" of sorts, as this helps me manage all of my projects in one place, which is better suited to GTD mentality and methodology. If gmail push ever gets working properly, it could be a good alternative for your current exchange -- provided that doesn't cause privacy/confidentiality issues for your lawyer-ness. :) I agree on the wait time, to a degree.
